About this talk
Discover the principles of ACT and learn practical tools to build psychological flexibility and live by your values.
When life gets difficult – when anxiety spikes, low mood creeps in, or stress takes over – most of us enter survival mode. We manage. We cope. We get through the day. But somewhere along the way, we can lose sight of what we actually care about. Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), is an approach that asks: when everything is falling apart around you and there’s nothing you can do, is it still possible to live meaningfully?
In this workshop, Dr Dapo Olafimihan introduces you to ACT – a therapeutic model he has used with clients dealing with life-changing injuries or abuse, and with professionals wanting to improve their quality of life. ACT places your values, not your symptoms, at the centre of wellbeing. Rather than fighting difficult internal experiences, you’ll be introduced to an alternative way of relating to them, so they stop blocking you from living in a way that matters to you. Dr Olafimihan will cover the ideas that underpin ACT, its application, and some practical elements you could try.
