About this talk

Trauma doesn't just affect emotions; it rewires the brain and changes how we see and interact with the world around us. Dr Michael Keane explores the science of how trauma reshapes the neural circuits involved in memory, emotion and stress responses. Drawing on recent evidence, two decades of brain imaging, and the unique dimensions of trauma within the Irish experience, he explains why some people prove more resilient while others remain vulnerable. He also examines the brain's remarkable capacity for recovery, presenting new approaches to therapy and self-care that demystify the science of trauma and how it shapes our understanding of healing.
