About this talk
What if the hardest part of your sexual desires isn’t the desire itself, but owning how you feel about wanting it? Why does shame linger even in spaces built for liberation?
Sexual shame is one of the stealthiest forces shaping our intimate lives, despite many cultures moving towards sex-positivity. Kink can feel liberating, but liberation doesn’t automatically dissolve what we’ve learned about vulnerability. In kink-positive communities, personal fears can follow us into the very spaces that promise freedom. We can embrace our desires and still hear an inner voice asking, “Is this too much? Is something wrong with me?” Greater visibility hasn’t erased the messages many of us absorbed about what is sexually acceptable, safe, or worthy of love.
In this interactive workshop, psychosexual therapist Lisa Home explores how sexual shame develops, why it persists, and how it shapes the way we play, connect, and reveal ourselves. Rather than trying to eliminate shame, this session focuses on integrating it and building the capacity to stay connected to yourself when feelings of exposure arise. Through psychological insight, guided reflection, and practical somatic exercises, you’ll learn to recognise shame in your body and thoughts, respond with steadiness rather than self-criticism, and cultivate a grounded sense of erotic confidence rooted in genuine self-ownership.
