About this talk

Learn how your nervous system holds the story of your life and how tuning into it can change everything. Many of us spend our lives trying to push through or manage anxiety, overwhelm, exhaustion or emotional disconnection without understanding what our bodies are trying to communicate. In this workshop, psychotherapist and somatic practitioner Greg James explores how the nervous system shapes the way we think, feel and respond to the world, and how traumatic experiences can remain held within the body long after the events have passed. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of why many struggles are not signs that something is wrong with us, but adaptive responses from a nervous system working hard to keep us safe. Drawing on somatic therapy, neuroscience and the StateShift® Model, this interactive workshop combines teaching and simple exercises to help participants recognise their own nervous system states in real time. You’ll leave with practical tools for grounding and regulation, downloadable resources, and a clearer understanding of how to work with your body rather than against it in moments of stress and overwhelm.
